Welcome to volleyball club The Spuyt(pronounced 'spout')Since its inception in 1987, The Spuyt has become a world famous institution, at least within Amsterdam. Contributing to this status is the fact that The Spuyt is a unique combination of a sports club and a café, in the heart of the city. Socially speaking, this is ideal, and The Spuyt is known as the "gezelligste" club in Amsterdam. But to avoid misunderstandings: it's the sport and not the bar that comes first. League players (in Dutch: competitiespelers) and recreational players (recreanten ) are both welcome by The Spuyt. Both groups have weekly practice. The members meet each other in our 'clubhouse' ("Kroeg"), café De Spuyt (close to Leidseplein and Rijksmuseum. See map). In addition to competition, members of our club often compete in various tournaments (toernooien) throughout the Netherlands. |
